Hello friends. I am happy to announce that I am hitting the road for the second half of September in support of my album, Desert Varnish. This will be an expedition to remember, traveling under the desert sun with old buds, Low Hums (Seattle) and Mike Coykendall (Portland), and new friends to be made along the way. I'll join the caravan as we pass through California, Arizona and Utah. Come and listen, tell a friend, spread the sound and take good care.

of Amy Blaschke’s Americana is in the details — her
fragile voice at once exuding strength and vulnerability, lyrical
moments that work like weathered photographs, spare arrangements
that let her songs breathe. Blaschke, a Seattle native who last
released an album in 2007 (under the name Night Canopy), returns
this month with “Desert Varnish,” recorded two years ago with
collaborators Joshua Grange (guitar), Jebin Bruni (keyboards), Ian
Walker (bass) and Steve Nistor (drums), all of whom boast
impressive resumés, none of which stand in the way of Blaschke’s
unspoken mantra that frequently understatement is the strongest
statement of all. The album is out Feb. 19 via Bird on a Lyre

Hello dear listeners. Well, a few things have changed since I wrote you last. Change, the one thing we can count on... I am very excited to announce that the album I recorded in January 2011, Desert Varnish, produced and engineered by Joshua Grange, featuring Grange on guitar, Ian Walker on bass, Steve Nistor on drums and Jebin Bruni on keys, is mastered and ready to be released. I will self-release a small run of CDs, available on my site and from CD Baby. Digital downloads will be available as well. Stay tuned.
I still can't wait for you to hear the tracks I recorded with Mark Rains and Rob Douglas in October, "All of One Love" and "Walking with the Rise". These songs will still be coming soon in early 2013! Thank you to these incredible players for making the songs more beautiful than I could have imagined: Rob Douglas on bass, Brian Whelan on keys and oohs and ahs, Lemar Carter on drums, Joachim Cooder on drums and percussion and Eric Heywood on guitar and pedal steel. Wow!
Happy New Year!
May 2013 be the best year yet!
